BAGHLAVA ESFAHANI

1 1/2 Cup All-Purpose Flour 1/2 Cup Plain Yogurt 1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil 2 Tbsp Unsalted Butter 1 Cup Sugar 1 Egg 2 oz / 57g Walnuts (1/2 Cup) 1/2 Tsp Salt 1/2 Tsp Baking Powder 2 Tsp White Vinegar 1/2 Tsp Ground Cardamom 1 Tsp Lemon Juice 1-2 Tbsp Cornstarch PREPARATIONS: None. DIRECTIONS: DOUGH: 1- Beat an egg until stiff. 2- Add plain yogurt and vegetable oil while whisking. 3- Stir in salt, baking powder and vinegar, whisk thoroughly. 4- Whisk in flour gradually until it looks like the dough demonstrated in the video. Note: the dough does not need much a of a kneading. 5- Turn the dough into a cylinder shape and divide in 8 pieces. 6- Moist a napkin and lay over the dough and rest for an hour. FILLING: 7- Grind walnuts and ground cardamom. 8- Roll out the dough pieces into thin round shapes. 9- Sprinkle the dough layers with cornstarch and place on top of each other. 10- Roll out the into a less than a half an inch sheet. 11- Cut out the dough with a large cookie cutter. 12- Fill the dough with the filling and wrap the dough around it. Press the corners to seal. 13- Melt unsalted butter. Rub the wraps with melted butter and place them onto a bakeware. 14- Preheat oven to 350º F (177º C), bake the wraps for 35 minutes. GLAZE: 15- Combine 1 cup sugar with a cup of water and stir well. 16- Boil the mixture for 10 minutes. 17- Stir in a tsp of lemon juice. 18- Remove the baghlavas from oven, Soak the baghlavas in the glaze. 19- Serve the baghlavas with yogurt drink.
